What customers need from your website.

Start with their questions

Imagine someone arrives on your website without knowing your business. They need to work out what you do, whether you serve their area and how to reach you. Those answers should be easy to find on a phone as well as a larger screen.

Show the work clearly

Explain your services in the words customers use. Add photos of your own work where you can, and describe what the customer was looking for. Specific examples help people decide whether you’re a good fit.

Give people a clear next step

Choose the main action for each page, such as calling, booking or sending an enquiry. Make it prominent. You can still offer another contact method for people who prefer it, without making every button compete for attention.

Try it with fresh eyes

Ask someone unfamiliar with the business to look at your homepage. Can they explain what you do and find a way to contact you? Watch where they hesitate. That’s often more useful than guessing what needs changing.

Keep checking after launch

A new service, a different phone number or a change in hours can make a good page inaccurate. A regular review helps the site stay useful as the business changes.
