Five website checks worth putting in your calendar.
1. Does the contact form reach you?
Send a test enquiry and check that it arrives in the right inbox. A confirmation message on the website doesn’t necessarily mean the email was delivered. Check the reply address and spam folder as well.
2. Does it load comfortably on a phone?
Try the site on mobile data. Look for oversized images, slow pages and buttons that are hard to use. PageSpeed Insights can help identify issues, but a score alone doesn’t tell you whether the site is winning enquiries.
3. Is the software maintained?
If your site uses a CMS or plugins, check whether updates are available and whether those tools are still supported. Back up before making changes and test afterwards. A static site has fewer moving parts, but still needs its content and hosting checked.
4. Are the business details right?
Check your phone number, service area, address and hours on the website and key listings. An old number or wrong opening time makes things harder for customers, even when everything else works.
5. Is the connection secure?
Check the site loads over HTTPS without a browser certificate warning. Confirm who looks after certificate renewal. Browser icons vary, so don’t rely on the presence of a padlock alone.
Make it a regular check
Set aside time each month to try the site as a customer would. Keep a short list of issues and who will fix them. We can include these checks in an agreed maintenance plan.
