How to ask for a Google review without making it awkward.
Make it a normal part of finishing a job
A short thank-you message is a natural place to invite feedback. Use the same approach with customers regardless of whether you expect a positive review. Leave the decision to them.
Keep the message simple
Try: “Thanks for choosing us. If you’d like to share your experience, you can leave a Google review here: [your review link]. We appreciate your feedback.” Add your direct review link so it’s easy to find.
Ask for an honest review
Don’t offer discounts, gifts or payment for reviews, and don’t ask only the customers you think will leave five stars. Reviews should reflect real experiences. You can invite feedback without suggesting what someone should write.
Make the link easy to find
Use the review link from your Google Business Profile and keep it somewhere handy, such as your invoice template or saved messages. Check that the link opens the correct business before sharing it.
Read what people tell you
Thank people for useful feedback and respond calmly when something has gone wrong. Reviews can help other customers make a decision and show you where your service could improve. There’s no magic number that guarantees a search ranking.
